At 7:30 p.m., May 18th, "New Youth? New Music? Original Music Live" began at Beijing Century Memory Hall, artists were: Dou Wei & E Band, The Wild Children, Hu Ma Ge, Yang Yi, The Omen.

Dou Wei & E Band were the most expected out of the whole show. Most of the audience were there for them. In spite of whatever their intentions were. The E Band was the last act that night. With the screaming "Dou Wei", "Too Ashamed", "Dark Dream" even "Faye Wong" among the audience, Dou Wei & E Band stepped on stage, disregarding the audience yearning for old hits, they went on with completely new songs, "Happy Meeting", "Chaos Battle: The Soldiers Fight Back", "Hollow Valley", "Sigh In The Rain", "Flourishing", and ended with "Peace Again". With the misty lighting, the whirling guitar and the slightly tapping drums opened their show, immediately dispelled the atmosphere from the previous bands. My mind was drifting away, and pondering in a lowery, hallucinating mist. When their music began, most of the audience were quite confused, they were expecting something, but unpredictable. And when "Hallucination" and "Sigh In The Rain" started, they fell into silence, for they were intoxicated and lost in the music. By the facial expression of Dou Wei & E Band on stage, i believe they didn't care about whether they would be welcomed by the audience or not. It's simple to repeat yourself, but it needs courage to break the old frame and start with a new trend.

New music, the most important thing is to express yourself. Expressing means existing. Disregard the music style, disregard the restricts of commercial. New music should soar beyond the land of freedom, it opens its heart to true fans. New youth can choose new music, or not. Just like that show, everyone got what they needed.
