Sunny Days (1995)

Dou Wei released his second solo album "Sunny Days" (1995), much to everyone's surprise and pleasure as well, quite a emotional departure from his first album. It seems after dreary rainy days, the sun suddenly comes out of the dark clouds and shines so brightly in the sapphirine blue sky. "Sunny Days" radiates such warm, brilliant light, the rhythm is much more upbeat, Chinese music element is omni-present in the melody. Yet deep inside, he was still drifting away from the crowd in his own dreamy world. And it is in this album, he began to lose words, sort of like the Cocteau Twins he admired, some lyrics are no longer attached to meanings, merely carriers of syllables, distinct sounds.

Another fellow muscian and producer Zhang Ya Dong (Zhang Ya Tung), helped with guitars and keyboards. All in all this album is a refreshing turning point, and hints that Dou Wei is getting more mature both in his music.
